You've Got to Love a Color Block!!!

What I Wore- Blazer-The Limited, Top and Maxi Skirt- Forever 21, Shoes-Steve Madden, Accessories- Old, Handbag- Nicole Lee via T.J. Maxx

I've always been the type of girl who was into several different colors. So I just wanted to snap a couple of shots of My Color Block version. The most exciting thing about my outfit to me, is that all of my pieces, with the exception of the shoes and handbag, are years old and this was the first time that I combined these pieces!  Hope you enjoy.

Style Feature of the Day: Lonnie Hawkins!!!

(What he wore- BDG Cardigan, Hawkins McGill SeerSucker shorts-, BDG T-shirt-, Profound Aesthetic Wood Bead Bracelets- Urban Outfitters; Shoes- Steve Madden, Watch - Kenneth Cole)

So I recently sold a pair of my favorite winged tip shoes to this dude. Immediately, I was intrigued by his sense of style, so I had to feature him on my blog!! This is the dope outfit that this gentleman incorporated, and I must say, it blew me away, simply because it was so different and there was thought put into the addition of each and every item. I must admit, I had never seen seersucker paired with a cardigan/track jacket, but after reviewing all of the pieces and understanding a little more about the inspiration of the look, I fell in love, hope you all will also!!!

Model: Lonnie Hawkins
What Inspired Outfit: The shoes were the main focus, and because I sold them to Lonnie, he wanted me to feature them in this post. He also stated that he loves playing with mismatched prints and colors.
What is Fashion to this model: "Fashion is a way of life, when you watch movies, it's has if you are watching a fashion show."

Military Style and DIY Denim Shorts!

Lately I've gotten several compliments on this military vest and thought it would be cute to pair them with a pair of DIY The Limited shorts that I created a week ago. To add to the look, I wore black opaque tights along with military style heeled booties. To accentuate my waist line, I belted the vest with one of my favorite belts, along with tribal bracelets and a ringed necklace. Its crazy that all of these pieces with the exception of my boots are years old, I thought what a way to remix my pieces.

What I Wore: Vest- Charlotte Russe (old), Black Sweater( Old), DIY Shorts - The Limited, Booties- Steve Madden, Accessories- Boutiqued(old), Knuckle Bender Ring Forever 21, Belt- Max Rave(old)

My Tribute to One of the Greatest Talents of Our Time.....

I'm still in shock by the news of Whitney Houston's untimely death. Ever since the beloved singer past away on February 12, 2012, the memory of her videos from the 80's and 90's have been playing over and over in my mind. All I can thing about is the big hair, infectious smile and powerful voice of such a brilliant musician. Whitney Houston paved the way for and inspired many of today's artist.

Although, Whitney under went a constant struggle with substance abuse, that ultimately compromised her voice, she will forever be remembered for her musical passion and impeccable style. WE WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU WHITNEY HOUSTON!

Great finds at the Local Goodwill!!

Just this weekend a super cute girl came to my job, shopping for some shoes, and I was thrown by this beautiful blouse that she was wearing. I had to ask where she got it, in hopes to find a similar blouse, if not the same one. Of course she replied that the top was found at a thrift store. I immediately knew that this was a one-of-a-kind piece that I would never be able to find. I decided to take a trip to a local thrift store anyway. I was fortunate to found a few pieces that I will share with you later, however, my friend Jasmine was much more successful in finding several key pieces that were unique and quite fabulous.

Although I was a tad bit jealous, she agreed to share those amazing finds with you guys.

The Art of Thrifting!!

5 Tips that I stand by when THRIFTING

  1. Shop Alone!    My biggest pet peeve is being rushed. It takes time to browse through all of the racks and sometimes you have to revisit one section a 2nd time because of the constant deliveries that are being added to each section.
  2. Don't over think!  If you find a piece that you really love, just grab it, because if you decide to 'just think' about it, chances are the $3 item will be gone the next day.
  3. Keep an open mind!   While its great to have a specific idea of what you are looking for, don't just dismiss other items you may have come across and may be useful to you.
  4. Don't Be Afraid of the Dirt!  I found a beautiful wool coat with a fur collar and decided not purchase it because of a small stain on the bottom. I regretted this so much because I was later introduced to Vanish Oxi products which will remove 40 years old stains.
  5. Dress for the Occasion! I found that because this can be a tedious task, and you really have to dig through racks and racks of items, so you need to be comfortable. I spent hours in just one store and needed to try different pieces on,  so I needed to be able to get in and out of my clothing and shoes with ease. It sounds crazy, but you want to wear a loose t-shirt ,jeans and sneakers or a comfy dress and flats.

Purple and Teal Stripes!

(Top- Forever 21, Cami-Express, Bodycom Skirt- Forever21, Shoes- Steve Madden)

I decided to share this outfit with you guys because I just grabbed this skirt and fell in love with it. I plan to wear it so many different ways. I thought it would be cute to pair the black and teal skirt with the sheer purple top for a contrast of colors. I also felt that the wedges were a great way to dress up a more casual look. Have a great day guys!
